Winton's Gold Nugget is Back

This weekend sees Winton Motor Raceway play host to the Superkart Gold Nugget meeting. The title is being revived this year after a short absence, the winner of the day receives a Gold Nugget and Ingot, the traditional trophy.

Gary Pegararo Wins South Australian Championship

Victorian RMR Superkarts racer Gary Pegoraro upset the strong local contingent to take victory in the Safe Fire Electrical - Hooves, Paws and Claws South Australian Superkart Championship after a packed weekend of racing at Mallala Motor Sport Park over the August 23/24 weekend.

The weekend represented an opportunity to test ahead of the Australian Championship finale, to be held at Mallala in November and a strong group of entries from Victoria and Western Australia joined the local teams.

Rogers, Wicks and Whitfield Crowned Superkart Champions

The Australian non-gearbox Superkart Championship came to a close after the fourth and final race with Melbourne based South Australian Michael Rogers and Canberra's Sean Whitfield successfully defending their Rotax Light and Junior Max titles respectively while Victoria's Mark Wicks overcame a final race that threatened to spoil his campaign to take the Rotax Heavy Championship at Round 6 of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships.

He had to come from behind this time but Michael Rogers picked off the fast starting Tim Scarman to take a third win at the Australian non-gearbox Superkart Championships.

Rogers Wins Wet Race 2

The heavens opened immediately before the first Superkart race of the day but it did not seem to bother Michael Rogers who took his second race victory of the weekend, pulling steadily away from Tim Scarman over the five lap journey around Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit for the sixth round of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships.

Rogers Takes Pole Position for non-Gearbox Superkart Titles

Melbourne based South Australian Michael Rogers has taken the first step towards defending his Australian non-gearbox Superkart Championship after taking pole position in the Ian Williams Tuning Arrow. Rogers circulated the four and a half kilometre track in 1:57.4818 lap time, half a second clear of the 36 kart field at Round 6 of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championship.
