Safe Evolutions Making History at Superkart Nationals

It is now just a week away from the final round of the 20th Australian Superkart Championship and an upset victory, utilising an Australian designed and constructed engine, driven by a driver better known for his exploits in another category in just his second full season in Superkarts is a distinct possibility.

After promising signs in 2007 Darren Hossack leapt into championship calculations after racing reigning Australian champion Warren McIlveen hard to the finish at a one-off V8 Supercar support program appearance earlier this year at McIlveen's home track, Eastern Creek Raceway. Hossack took his first Superkart race victory at that race meeting as well. A fast and consistent run at the Eastern Creek championship round a month later put Hossack into the championship lead.

Zavaglia and Wayne Star at Laguna Seca

Australian racers Sam Zavaglia and Mike Wayne have filled the minor podium positions at the Superstars of Superkarts meeting at California's Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Zavaglia set a new lap record as he chased home former World Motorcycle Champion Eddie Lawson for the win, falling just over two seconds short.

Chermaz Defends Queensland Championship

With two wins in the two championship races held on Sunday October 4 and with title rivals Chryss and Russell Jamieson absent Carlo Chermaz swept to victory in the third round of the Queensland Superkart Championship, along the way wrapping up the defence of his 2007 Championship crown in the Buildersmile Construction PVP.

Queensland Title Finale Arrives

This weekend sees the final round of the Queensland Superkart Championship, held at Warwick's Morgan Park Raceway.

The resurgent field of Queensland Superkarts which has seen a growth in numbers in non-gearbox racing at Queensland Raceway, and in representation at both State and National Championships heads to Warwick with the two major pointscores to be finalised.
