Dunlop Australian Superkart Championship: Pegoraro Splashes to Wet Race 2 Win

The weather turned on the Dunlop Australian Superkart Championship at round 3 of the Shannons Nationals Australian Superkart Championship, but it did not bother the Dunlop / BRC Engine Anderson of Gary Pegoraro. The local driver mastered the wet weather to pull a gap on the Superkart field for his first win of the title to go with yesterday's pole position.

Dunlop Australian Superkart Championship: McIlveen Wins Race 1

The opening race of the Dunlop Australian Superkart Championship has seen seven time Australian Champion Warren McIlveen (Soundy's Tamworth Stockman-Honda) win a four kart battle for the lead leading home multiple international championship winner Trevor Roberts (Stockman Superkarts / Demon Tweeks / Nilfisk Stockman-Yamaha) by half a second at the end of five fierce laps.

Race 1 Results

Warren McIlveen (Soundy's Tamworth Stockman-Honda) won the first race after an entertaining four kart scrap which saw Gary Pegoraro lead early until hunted down by Trevor Roberts. McIlveen slowly reeled in Roberts as the race went on to win ahead of Roberts. Gary Pegoraro finished third ahead of Anton Stevens.

Martin Latta won the 250 National division ahead of Luke May and Wayne Sprostan. In the 125 class Steven Tamasi got the points ahead of Darren Dunn and Jeff Reed.

Dunlop Australian Superkart Championship Qualifying: Pegoraro Secures Pole Position

Gary Pegoraro has taken pole position at the opening round of the Dunlop Australian Superkart Championship after recording a 1:33.9613 lap time in the Dunlop / BRC Engines Anderson at a picture perfect Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit for round three of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships. The experienced local recorded the only '33' of the day in the first qualifying session and his nearest rivals in the Stockman Superkarts team could not pick up the three tenths gap in the second session.

Hossack Leads Early

With everyone out to play at last for the 2010 Dunlop Australian Superkart Championship, 2008 Champion Darren Hossack made the first statement of the day with a 1:34.6484 lap time in the Safe Evolutions Anderson-SAFE. Second and third are Sam Zavaglia Racing Stockman Suprkarts team mates Sam Zavaglia (SZR Stockman-Honda) and Trevor Roberts (Demon Tweeks / Nilfisk Stockman-Yamaha). In Zavaglia's first laps for the weekend he recorded a 1:35.4397 ahead of Roberts on 1:36.1599.

Phillip Island Paddock Gossip

A bumper entry of 47 Superkarts, travelling from five states and including three international entries have arrived at Phillip Island for the opening round of the Dunlop Australian Superkart Championship at the third round of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships. It is the largest field of Superkarts assembled for a national championship round since 2007.
