Sam Zavaglia (Sam Zavaglia Racing Stockman-Yamaha) took the first victory of the Australian Superkart Championship round 1 after a drama-charged six lap race at Round 4 of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships.

Zavaglia moved into the lead just before the end of the fifth lap of the race after tear-away race leader Gary Pegoraro (Marron Excavations / Wizzer Race Engines Anderson-FPE) rolled to a halt with no drive. From that point Zavagalia held a gap over the field to take the win.

Yiani Harpas (Internode / Metaplanners / Davtec Zip-BRC) won a drag race from the final corner to the finish line to overtake Darren Hossack (Safe Evolutions Anderson-Safe) for second position with brother Ilya Harpas (Internode / Metaplanners / Davtec Zip-BRC) finishing fourth ahead of Anton Stevens (Dunlop / ART Motorsport PVP).

Warren McIlveen recovered from a spin to finish sixth while in the 125cc class Jeff Reed (Telgrit Stockman-Honda) and Steven Tamasi (Domain Prestige Homes Stockman-Honda) fought over the lead with Reed claiming the win with John Pellicano (Giova Jewellery Design Avoig-Honda) taking third in the class.

More details to follow with three races still to come on Sunday.
