The Victorian Superkart Club is proud to announce the 2010 Victorian Junior Superkart State Championship.

Sponsored by A.M.S.F, CAMS, MINDA MOTORSPORT & DUNLOP KARTSPORT.

This Championship will be run over four rounds at both Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and Winton Motor Raceway in conjunction with the 2010 VSKC Club Championships.

It is open to all Junior competitors aged between 12 &16 who have not previously held a CAMS circuit racing licence and will be run under a CAMS permit.

In 2009 the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) approved a change to the minimum licensing age requirement for circuit racing (Cars) in Australia from 16 to 14 years, creating a smoother pathway for up and coming young drivers.

The change allows CAMS to identify high potential in drivers at an early age and develop a continuous pathway from kart racing, through to circuit racing – where drivers may compete in a progressive manner.

Junior NGB (non-gearbox) Superkarts, a CAMS entry-level formula and the most cost-effective open wheel formula in Australia, will play a significant role under the new licensing arrangement.

This Championship allows young drivers to race a Junior Rotax engine (JMA) from the age of 12 at Grand Prix circuits without having any previous karting or racing experience.

This will also be the perfect way for juniors to fast track their racing career by racing on large car circuits helping them learn their craft early.

The winning driver will be recognised as the “Victorian Junior State Champion” and will receive a fully funded trip to the AMSF AIS Motorsport Camp in 2011.

In addition Minda Motorsport have offered in conjunction with the AMSF to provide a test drive in a CAMS Rising Star Formula Ford race car for the winner of the series.
