Rockpress PSC Update: Three Down and One to go for McIlveenPosted by Mark Jones, 9 August 2009, 2:13 PM |
Warren McIlveen has taken his third race win for the weekend at the Rockpress Pacific Superkart Challenge, moving into a clear points lead with just the one race remaining on the program of the Morgan Park Raceway round of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships.
It has not been easy for McIlveen though as again Vince Livaditis has pushed McIlveen hard in the early running and McIlveen in now running slightly wounded on old brake pads. From here all McIlveen needs to do is finish the final race to claim the trophy, but finish he must.
Behind Lividitis, who continues to take personal best lap times in his PVP, Russell Jamieson took his first top three finish for the weekend, fighting his way past the Stockman-Honda of Jason Laker to take the spot. Steven Murray battled with the pair in the early running until stopping with no fuel pressure after three laps.
John Pellicano briefly ran with the 250 Internationals but settled into his own pace running well clear of the snarling 125cc pack. Drene Jamieson pulled clear of that pack to take sixth behind Pellicano. Cameron Hoswell continues to improve, finishing seventh ahead of Brian Wild and 85cc class winner Stewart Bell with Phil Silcock rounding out the top ten. David McAdam again claimed the Rotax Max class, finishing twelfth.
If McIlveen stumbles in the last race, 80cc dominator Stewart Bell and Rotax Max leader David McAdam could decide the title. Just the eight lap finale remains to complete the 2009 Rockpress Pacific Superkart Challenge.
Points after Race 3:
Warren McIlveen 1623, Stewart Bell 1383, David McAdam 1383, Drene Jamieson 1215, Vince Livaditis 1215, John Pellicano 1212, Brian Wild 1152, Lindsay Jamieson 1035, Todd Gardner 1039, Phil Silcock 759, Jason Laker 759 etc
